Print vs Screen: Different Requirements
Images that look great on screen may not print well. Print requires higher resolution, different file formats, and attention to color accuracy. After removing a background in QuickRemove, there are important steps to ensure the output is print-ready.
Resolution Matters
Print typically requires 300 DPI (dots per inch) at the final print size. For a 4x6 inch print, that's 1200x1800 pixels. For a poster at 24x36 inches, that's 7200x10800 pixels.
- Start with high-resolution source images — the higher the input resolution, the better the print output
- QuickRemove's free tier supports up to 1080p — suitable for small prints
- Basic tier supports up to 4K — good for standard prints
- Pro tier supports unlimited resolution — ideal for large-format prints
- AI upscaling (Pro) can increase resolution up to 4x if your source image needs it
Choosing the Right Format
PNG for Transparency
If your print design needs the transparent background preserved (e.g., a logo on a colored business card), save as PNG. PNG is lossless and preserves the alpha channel. Note that PNG files are larger than JPG.
JPG for Solid Backgrounds
If you've replaced the background with a solid color (white for product photos, for example), JPG is fine. It produces smaller files with good quality. Use high quality settings to avoid compression artifacts.
TIFF for Professional Print
Some professional print services prefer TIFF files for their lossless quality. QuickRemove exports to common formats — you can convert PNG to TIFF if needed.

Step-by-Step: Background Removal to Print-Ready
1 Start with the Highest Resolution Source
Use the original, full-resolution photo. Don't use a resized or compressed version.
2 Remove Background in QuickRemove
Import and process at the image's native resolution. QuickRemove preserves the full resolution of your source image.
3 Apply Your Background
Set the background to whatever your print design requires — transparent for layered designs, white for product catalogs, or a custom image for composites.
4 Check Edge Quality at 100% Zoom
Zoom to 100% and inspect the edges. For print, any edge artifacts will be visible. Use feathering, color decontamination, and manual tools to ensure clean edges.
5 Use AI Upscaling If Needed
If your source image isn't high enough resolution for the intended print size, QuickRemove's AI upscaling (Pro tier) can increase resolution up to 4x while preserving detail.
6 Export at Full Resolution
Save as PNG (for transparency) or JPG at maximum quality. Verify the exported file dimensions meet your print requirements.
